Major Charges/Projects

The Donor Apheresis Subcommittee is a subcommittee that reports to the Apheresis Applications Committee.

The Subcommittee is in the process of developing a survey to prioritize its charges and is considering the following projects:

  • Developing guidelines as to how many injections (GSCF) can be given to patients
  • Finding out more about the issues associated with TRALI and Donors:
    -     Could hospitals and blood centers switch to transfusing components from male donors only?
    -     How much has TRALI been seen at hospitals?
    -     What was/is the breakdown of donor base (male/female)
     - What are, if any, the incentives given to increase the number of male platelet donors?
Meeting Schedule

The Donor Apheresis Subcommittee meets monthly via teleconference. The Subcommittee also meets in conjunction with the Apheresis Applications Committee monthly via teleconference and in person at the Annual Meeting.

ASFA members are invited to apply to serve on the Donor Apheresis Subcommittee by sending an email, stating their interest in joining the Donor Apheresis Subcommittee to asfa@apheresis.org. Please include a brief CV as an attachment to your email.
