The Performance Metrics Subcommittee is a subcommittee that reports to the Apheresis Applications Committee.
The Subcommittee is responsible for developing indicators of quality practice pertaining to apheresis medicine. Examples of performance metrics are:
- TTP patients receiving plasma as replacement fluid.
- Using of calcium to prevent hypocalcemia secondary to citrate toxicity.
The Subcommittee is currently working on a survey to better indentify the practice gaps. The Subcommittee will focus on development metrics on calcium replacement, TTP treatment, red cell exchange for sickle cell disease, and peripheral blood HPC collection.
The Performance Metrics Subcommittee meets monthly via teleconference. The Subcommittee also meets in conjunction with the Apheresis Applications Committee monthly via teleconference and in person at the Annual Meeting.
ASFA members are invited to apply to serve on the Performance Metrics Subcommittee by sending an email, stating their interest in joining the Performance Metrics Subcommittee to asfa@apheresis.org. Please include a brief CV as an attachment to your email.
